#2137 – LEXA HILL – I AM NOT TECHNO

One of our favourite records recently is Lexa Hill’s “The Blues Man”. It’s bluesy vocal and effortlessly powerful rhythm section making the perfect record to play as if you’re looking take your set a bit deeper. With that and his beautiful “Come Fly With Me” on Nitegrooves (think Eric Prydz doing deep house!) there was enough there for us to check in and ask him if he’d do us an ep for GU.

Here it is. “Honky Tonk” is a right old jazz-house knees up with rolling piano licks and a roaring preacher speech that delivers a killer hands-in-the-air moment.

Buy it @ BEATPORT and TRAXSOURCE now.

With “I am not techno” I think Lexa doth protest too much. Certainly this isn’t Drumcode material but its rolling bass, heavy-ass kick and loopy synths sure sounds like techno to me!

This one is exclusive to BEATPORT
