Camelphat’s “The Quad” is one of my favourite GU records this year. That piano just gets me. Every time. And the groove is something else. SOOO GOOOOOD!
And so, since I can, I’ve set up this remix package so I can get my paws on it. The first thing I wanted to do was add a vocal. Now, don’t worry, I’ve not gone and murdered a perfectly good instrumental dance track covering it up with an OTT screamer (the kind that ruined so many good club hits in the 90s & 00s) but I have added a couple of wee cheeky lifts that should bring out an old school smile in you. I’ve also turbo-charged the bassline and added some heavyweight thump to the kick. It worked a treat at the GU party in Glasgow on Saturday and hopefully it’ll work for you. Also on the pack (and returning the favour for the Camels’ remix of their “Strings” track), Illyus & Barrientos have taken “The Quad” a bit deeper. They’ve gone with the same vocals I have but style-wise its a smoother, more French-sounding late night bump. Buy it exclusively @ TRAXSOURCE.
