Unorthodox might be a new name to you but we can almost guarantee the music he has made won’t be. He’s a man usually found writing or mixing for other artists and you’ll have heard his work on releases by the likes of Second City, Todd Terry & Disciples.
He first appeared on GU as part of last years ADE compilation. His tough and jacking “A Little Higher” was one of our favourite tracks on there and picked up love from the likes of Pax & Phonique, so we’re really happy he’s come through with this EP.
“Hold You” is the big tune here, all bumpy bass, hooky vocals and a massive piano line. The other two tracks both use classic samples but take them in an unusual direction. Pick this up at both BEATPORT and TRAXSOURCE
“Black Plastic” is wraps its sample around some bending chords and a Hardfloor-style bouncing beat. This one is excluisve to TRAXSOURCE
Lastly, “Body & Soul” gets all stab-happy in a kind of Kevin Over / Audiojack way. This is available exclusively at BEATPORT
