#2079 – PER QX & PARAMOUR – READY FOR THIS (INCL GOLDEN BOY / SICK ELEKTRIK REMIXES
Next up on Glasgow Underground is this sweet-as single from Per QX, the Berlin/London based producer who’s released on labels like Noir, Toolroom & Kinetika.
“Ready 4 This” is the kind of raw, jacking house music I LOVE. It reminds me of people like George Morel, Armand Van Helden and Erick Morillo, a time when Strictly Rhythm could do no wrong and those guys were delivering floor-destroyers week on week. That said, this is no ultra-trendy 90s sound-a-like jam with all the punch of an alcohol free lager, this is a 100% modern production with a kick that thumps like a Dusky one and a bass groove that delivers serious body moving energy.
Remixes come from The Golden Boy and Sick Elektrik.
For anyone that’s heard The Golden Boy DJ and wondered why he didn’t make more records like he plays out, this is the mix for you. Here he takes Per & Paramour’s bassline and warps it into a monstrous, Kevin Saunderson-esque low-end snake that weaves its way through some hefty beats and air-punching drops.
Sick Elektrik take “Ready 4 This” on a deeper journey. They keep the heavy synths and bass that made “That’s Right” such a big tune for Annie Mac but take the production closer to the kind of thing George Fitzgerald did on Jon Hopkins “Open Eye Signal”. The end result is the kind of tripped-out 4am E-monster that will would mean A LOT to the “right” people on the dancefloor.
