#2073 – BRETT GOULD – ALL OF A SUDDEN

Writer's picture: Kevin McKayKevin McKay

I’m always excited when I get new music from Brett. Why? Because I never know quite what I’m going to get. A lot of producers get good at making a certain style and then are too scared, or too addicted to the plaudits to experiment and change. Not Brett. He’s someone who’s passionate about all kind of dance music and makes records that incorporate all his wide range of influences be they rave, techno, progressive or piano house. What he tries might not work every time but he’s never one to deliver a record that sounds – pretty much – like the last record he made.

On this release, “All Of A Sudden” fuses elements of classic house from Chicago, Detroit and New Jersey and welds them together with a monster kick drum and hooky-as-hell vocal line. The result is the kind of warm-yet-heavy house jam that’s perfect for sweetening up a dance-floor.

If you’re looking a bit weightier than that, check out “Righteousness”. On this track Brett pulls out the acid box, mixes in some hip-hop attitude and a classic George Morel / Armand Van Helden style baseline and delivers a big tune with a real swagger.
